Kayaking

Among different water sports, Kayaking is one of the most exciting and adventurous sport. The kayak was first made by the Inuit, an artic people. Previously kayaks were made from wooden frames covered in sealskin with a small hole in the middle craft where the user would sit and these were mainly used for hunting. These former kayaks varied greatly in designs. Some are short and wide with a large storage capacity and are stable and painless to use while others that are made for the purpose of rowing them in the sea are designed as long and fast, just for the sea. The recent kayaks are very much different from the former ones. In the year 1984 the first plastic kayak was made and now the kayaks are pretty much light and are very flexible and adaptable. Kayaking became a part of the Olympics in 1936, with the introduction of four events, the single and pairs 1,000 meter and 10,000 meter race. Later the white-water race and the slalon events were added to the Olympics. Kayaks are classified by their intended use. The five prime classifications are Sea kayak which is sometimes referred to as Ocean kayak, Whitewater kayak, Recreational kayak, Playboats and Slalom kayak. Kayaking is now an interesting and popular sport that kids will love to watch.
