It is known that bridges are an important connection that helps in linking two places that are situated on either side of a water body. There are various forms of bridge and the six basic modern bridge forms are the beam, the truss, the arch, the cantilever, the cable-stay and the suspension. Lets name some of the famous bridges that are designed in these basic modern forms. The Zhaozhou located in china is an arch bridge, the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia is an arch truss bridge, the Forth Bridge in Scotland is a cantilever bridge, the Tatara Bridge in Japan is a cable-stayed bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is a suspension bridge, the Tower Bridge in London is a suspension and bascule bridge and The San Francisco- Oakland Bay Bridge is a form of suspension and cantilever combined. U will love to know some interesting facts about bridges all over the world. The Gladesville Bridge in Sydney, Australia, which was first opened in 1964, became the first stone or concrete arch bridge to span 1000 feet (305 meters). The first ever box Beam Bridge was the Britannia Tubular Bridge, opened in 1850. Strikingly there are almost 50,000 bridges in Texas. The world\’s first iron bridge was built across the River Severn at Coalbrookdale, England in 1779.
